Kea is the most Western of Kyklades and we berth in the small island
village of Korissia to stock up our supplies.
Rainer buys a tin of antifouling which explodes
when he is back on the boat. What a mess! Two rolls of kitchen paper
and a litre of thinner later we have blue fingernails and Rainer looks
like Captain blue beard. But the rest of the boat appears clean except
for Rainer's shorts and shirt - they go directly to the garbage bin!
There was no thought of taking pictures!
Wednesday, July 20th -Thursday, July 21st
In Phoinikas on Syros we wait for the announced Meltemi, the strong
wind in this part of the Med. Rainer uses the time to get the required
stamp for the transit log and learns all about Greek bureaucracy.
Friday, July 22nd
We didn't wait long enough; on the way to Paros the Meltemi hits us.
We find shelter on the north side of Paros in a protected bay, but we
didn't get much sleep because of the noise of the engines of the ferries
from the close-by city.
Saturday, July 23rd
In the morning the deck is sopping wet, usually a sign for not too much
wind. The passage between Paros and Antiparos is full of rocks we have
to navigate careful
