Now we will explore the country side of the island. The roads get worse with every kilometer.
The small city of Cerda is the centre of growing artichokes.
The city Enna is also called the navel of Sicily. It sits on top of an almost one thousand meter high mountain. The view is magnificent. On each surrounding mountain top sits a village and Mt. Etna greets from the distance.
Not far away is the Roman Villa Casale built in the 4th century A.C. with its fantastic mosaics.
Mt. Etna is still covered in snow. It does not look like we can make it higher up.
We have more time for another sightseeing tour in Messina.
