...to Trogir
Thursday,May 5th
The landlord of Villa Rava rings his big bell for us to say
"good bye". We are able to set sail from the start
- that is after we rescued the fallen-in fender. All around
us thunderclouds are building up. We look for shelter in the
Telascica Bay in case a thunderstorm hits us.
Friday, May 6th
It looks like the wind has died down over night but appearances
can be deceptive. Between the Kornati Islands the wind is really
howling. We turn round to go back to Telascica where we are
safe.

Saturday, May
7th
The wind increases from
zero knots at the start to 22 knots in the harbour of Vodice and
we are glad to arrive safely in the marina . The small town of
Vodice is not very exciting, the only life can be found at the
harbour front. Most of the restaurants are still closed. But there
is a small fruit and vegetable market and also a supermarket,
what more do we need?

|
Sunday, May 8th Vodice
Even in the marina, the wind blows with more than 20 knots.
Berthing is no fun under such conditions as we can clearly see
the 55 regatta sailboats struggling when they arrive in the
late afternoon.
|
Monday, May 9th to Mirine
Slowly but surely we are drawing further south. But it is still
very cold. Why didn't I pack the skiing underwear? At the end
of the bay is an ancient wall built in the 15th century to defend
against the Ottomans.

|
Tuesday, May 10th
Early in the afternoon we reach Trogir.

Wednesday, May 11th
Rain - that's all we need!
When it is about to stop we walk across the bridge to
Trogir. The old medieval town is situated on an artificial
island, most likely for better defence. The narrow streets
and alleys of the old town are full of corners, impossible
for a car to drive through. Trogir has no chance but
to be car free!

|
The town has kept its medieval
character, even with most of the little places filled
with tables and sunshades.

|
The mighty fort was erected
in the 14th century and serves today as an open-air
theatre.
