Helmut and Gudrun with the "Hegulf" have spent the winter in the Yat Marina in Marmaris. With the Dolmus we visit them in the evening. They still need a week to be ready for to leave.
We reach Rhodes next day and berth in the
unfinished marina outside. No change in the last two years.

Rhodes is still quite, to early for tourists.

There is a German butcher of Rhodes and we enjoy potato salad and bratwurst. We stay three days and three nights then we head for Symi. The proposed wind of 3-4 beaufort turns into a 6-7. Fortunately the direction is concenient for our destination. The small harbour of Symi is quite crowded despite the early season. At night it starts to rain, we feel like sleeping in a tent.

In the morning the sun is back again but the air is quite misty. With absolutely no wind we reach Knidos - very unusual in this area. The cape of the ancient city of Knidos is notorious for rough weather but obviously today we are lucky. The sea is absolutely flat when we drop our anchor in the "museum".

Of course we want to visit the ruins but it is extremly hot and windless, so our walk is rather short. Heavy gusts from the rockface desturb our sleep during the night. And in the morning the strong wind of the cape is back. We should have rounded the cape yesterday! Now we have to figth till we are in Bodrum. The marina is very crowded, mostly with "Delaware Turks. To avoid Turkish taxes rich Turks register their boat in the US. We get a small berthing at the very end of the pier.

The skipper doesn't feel well and dissapears in his bed. Next day we have to move to another berthing because they need this particular space. We have to do this even it is very windy. The box they squeeze us into is extremly small and our biggest and best fender pops by this action. The marineros feel guilty (quite right) and bring us another to replace the broken one. The skipper feels still very sick even he takes several pills to solve the problem. That's why I have to visit the nice city of Bodrum by myself.

When there is no improvement in Rainer's condition the next day we call a doctor. He says exactly the same Jochen has said, only he charges 50 Euros for it.
