They are twice our number, but
we boast the better gear! The crew of "Blue Denim" is clearly better
equipped when it comes to weight and strength, but this only comes into play
when setting the sails. We are much faster when striking sail and watch our
competitors during our maneuver drink.
I have fastened the mooring line now lo often
I have become quite good at it. But when we want to berth in the tiny city
harbor of Cres I am struggling. The rope is so heavy that I can hardly manage.
When I see Bernd as the one in charge at the bow on "Blue Denim"
using all his strength I am pleased with myself again. He lifts up an old
anchor with his mooring line, while I haul up a rusty garden gate!
We discover several inlets along the coast
of Istria.

Twice a day there is a side-side maneuver, i.e. we
drop the anchor and they hang on to us. When everybody knows what to do (and
when to do it) this works quite well, only Yossi is sometimes so fascinated
by the sea and the landscape - he just forgets about the rope he is supposed
to hand over.
Since we are side-by-side we have no problem
to change over to "Blue Denim" for lunch or dinner, because we
can't compete with the chef on the other boat. Everyone who knows Wolfgang
is in no doubt about it.
I heard that the Junior Crew is harboring a
competitor for him, perhaps one day it will come to a cookout!
Time flies, this week is over in no time. For several
reasons three of the "Blue Denim" crew will change over to "Geriatri'x'":
1. the charter time has ended,
2. there is no suitable flight available from Pula,
3. this way they can do a night trip on "Geriatri'x'
With so many experts on board I can go to sleep. In the morning we are at
the mouth of the lagoon except that it is almost impossible to get in. Hundreds
of sailboats come towards us! But we manage to find our way through this throng
and luckily Wolfgang, Bernd and Yossi will reach their flights back - wherever
they want to go to.
